Supreme Court Sets Six Execution Dates

The Tennessee Supreme Court today issued six execution dates for 2019 and 2020. 

The Court set an execution date of May 16, 2019, for Donnie Edward Johnson. Johnson was convicted in 1985 of killing his wife Connie Johnson in Shelby County. Johnson had a previous execution date set, which was stayed for pending litigation.View the Order.

The Court set an execution date of August 15, 2019, for Stephen Michael West. West was convicted of the murder of Wanda Romines, 51, and the murder and rape of Sheila Romines, 15, in Union County in 1986. The Court set an execution date of October 10, 2019, for Charles Walton Wright. Wright was convicted of the murders of Gerald Mitchell and Douglas Alexander in Davidson County in 1984. He had a previous execution date set, which was stayed for pending litigation. The Court set an execution date of December 5, 2019, for Lee Hall, a/k/a Leroy Hall, Jr. Hall was convicted of the murder of Traci Crozier in Hamilton County in 1991. He had a previous execution date set, which was stayed for pending litigation. View the Lee Hall Order

The Court set an execution date of February 20, 2020, for Nicholas Todd Sutton. Sutton was convicted of the murder of Carl Estep in 1985 in Morgan County. He was earlier convicted of the murder of his grandmother. He had a previous execution date set, which was stayed for pending litigation. View the Nicholas Todd Sutton Order

The Court set an execution date of April 9, 2020, for Abu-Ali Abdur' Rahman (formerly known as James Lee Jones). Abdur' Rahman was convicted of the murder of Patrick Daniels in 1986 in Davidson County. He had a previous execution date set, which was stayed for pending litigation. View the Abdur' Rahman Order
