Judge Williams Honored with Portrait Unveiling in Memphis

Judge Karen R. Williams, who retired last year from Shelby County Circuit Court, was honored earlier this month with a portrait unveiling at the courthouse.

Approximately 150 state and federal judges, along with attorneys, friends, and family gathered in the south hall of the courthouse to celebrate the retirement of Judge Williams and to participate in the unveiling of her portrait to be placed in the Division III Courtroom. Among the guests were Justice Janice Holder, Mayor-Elect Jim Strickland, and most of her former law clerks.

Magistrate Charmiane Claxton, Judge Williams’ first clerk, spoke on behalf of all the law clerks. Judge Robert "Butch" Childers spoke on behalf of the Circuit Court bench. Frank K. Morris of Memphis is the artist who created the portrait.
