In this matter, individual plaintiffs and non-profit organizations Gun Owners of America, Inc., and Gun Owners Foundation seek declaratory and injunctive relief from the enforcement of Tenn. Code Ann. § 39-17-307 and -1311, which together prohibit the carrying of certain, prohibited weapons in public parks, playgrounds, civic centers, and other government-owned facilities, on the basis that these statutes violate Article I, Section 26 of the Tennessee Constitution.
