Media - Baby Doe Opioid Trial

The case settled on July 27, 2021. 

The trial in Staubus vs. Purdue Pharma, L.P., et al., known as the Sullivan County Baby Doe case, is expected to start on Monday, July 26, 2021, in Bristol, TN before Chancellor E.G. Moody. The plaintiffs in this case include multiple governmental entities and an infant born with neonatal abstinence syndrome. The defendants are Endo Health Solutions, Inc. and Endo Pharmaceuticals.

On April 6, a default judgment on liability was entered in favor of the plaintiffs. The upcoming trial will determine damages. Jury selection will be on Thursday, July 22. There will be a six-person jury with two alternates. Please note no cameras, video recorders, or audio recorders are allowed in the courtroom during jury selection, per Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 30.

The trial is expected to last several weeks.
 
One video camera and one still camera will be permitted in the courtroom during the trial. 
 
Proceedings will take place in the main courtroom in the Bristol Justice Center at 801 Anderson Street, Bristol, TN.
