GUARDIAN AD LITEM TRAINING

The Child Development Training for the Rule 40 Guardian ad Litem, 
updated to include the Rule 40 Guardian ad Litem 2022 Educational Update

The Tennessee Court Improvement Program's mandatory training for attorneys
  who would like to accept cases as a Guardian ad Litem in Tennessee.

This training course consists of two parts: 

Child Development for the Rule 40 Guardian ad Litem  (4.0 dual credit hours) 
Presented by: Dr. Theodora Pinnock, M.D., Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician, Assistant Professor, Dean of Admissions, Meharry Medical College

Rule 40 Guardian ad Litem Educational Update   (1.50 general credit hours)
Presented by: Carrie Mason, Program Attorney for the Tennessee Court Improvement Program

For attorneys who have not previously completed this training: You will be required to view the complete 5.5 hours (4.0 dual and 1.5 general hours) of training in order to receive CLE credit  We do not provide partial CLE for On-Demand Distance Learning Courses. THIS TRAINING WILL BE RETIRED JULY 1, 2023. Credit will not be given after 11:59 PM on June 30th, 2023.  

For attorneys who have previously completed the Rule 40 Guardian ad Litem training:  CLE credit can only be provided one time when viewing On-Demand Distance Learning Courses.  Since you have already completed the original four hour training, you are only eligible to view the Rule 40 Guardian ad Litem 2022 Educational Update addendum.  This portion of the training is 1.5 general hours. 

If you are not sure if you have completed this training, please review your CLE account for the Child Development for the Rule 40 Guardian ad Litem training for 4.0 dual hours.  The course was offered between July 2019 to December 2021.  You can also send an email to cipadminassistant@tncourts.gov to request that we review our submission records.  All completed CLE requests will be reviewed prior to submission. You will be notified by email if there are any concerns with your submission.
