Supreme Court Justice

Justice Sarah K. Campbell was confirmed as the newest member of the Tennessee Supreme Court on February 10, 2022, following her appointment by Governor Bill Lee. Justice Campbell previously served in the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office as Associate Solicitor General and Special Assistant to the Attorney General and as an associate at Williams & Connolly LLP in Washington, DC. She also served as a law clerk for Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr. on the United States Supreme Court and Judge William H. Pryor Jr. on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Justice Campbell graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from Duke University School of Law in 2009, where she was managing editor of the Duke Law Journal and a member of the moot court board. She received a Master of Public Policy degree from Duke University the same year. Justice Campbell graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee in 2004, where she served as student body president and received the Torchbearer Award, the University’s highest student honor. Justice Campbell is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the Federalist Society and an elected member of the American Law Institute. She was a member of the Harry Phillips American Inn of Court from 2017 to 2021 and participated in the Tennessee Bar Association’s Leadership Law program in 2020. She also served as a member of the Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments from 2017 to 2020.
