Five Apply for 1st Judicial District Circuit Court Opening

The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments will consider five applicants when it meets May 4 in Johnson City to select nominees for the impending circuit court vacancy in the 1st Judicial District, which serves Carter, Johnson, Unicoi, and Washington counties.

The vacancy has been created by the announcement that the Honorable Thomas J. Seeley, Jr. is retiring effective June 30, 2015.

The applicants are:

The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments will interview the applicants on Monday May 4 in the Grand Soldiers Ballroom within Carnegie Hotel, 1216 W. State of Franklin Road, Johnson City. The meeting will include a public hearing starting at 9 a.m. EDT, during which members of the public may express their opinions about the applicants. The interview and public hearing will be open to the public.

The council is expected to make their selections immediately following the interviews and forward the names to Gov. Bill Haslam for his consideration.
