Judiciary Mourns Death of Judge W. Dale Young

Retired Circuit Court Judge W. Dale Young died Saturday, May 21, at his home. He was 73.

After 26 years on the bench, Judge Young recently retired as the Circuit Court Judge in the 5th Judicial District, which serves Blount County.

Prior to his appointment on the bench, Young worked in private practice at Dunn, Felknor, Young, Paine, and DeLozier and as Assistant Attorney General for the 4th Judicial Circuit. Young was the East Tennessee Campaign manager for Winfield Dunn for Governor and, in 1970,  he became Governor Dunn's Chief of Staff/Deputy Governor.

A celebration of his life ceremony will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating and Eulogy by former Mayor Jerry Cunningham.
